[FAQ SESSION]

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you offering free graduation photoshoot sessions?

During my time in University, I came in as a first-generation, low-income college student, and I was very fortunate to be in a position where I was able to cover the cost of my education and living expenses through financial aid, food stamps, and working part-time as a creative and other roles. When graduation season came around and as someone who has taken clients' graduation photos to become one myself, I recognize how the cost of a quality graduation photoshoot can be expensive, and has only continued to increase in cost each semester. While I have so much love and respect for creative artists and believe they have every right to price themselves however much they feel, it can be a hefty cost for some.

When graduation season came around, I noticed a handful of graduates who would take photos with their phones with a friend or their family, and with spare time on my hands, I decided to offer them a free session to highlight and celebrate their milestone, while wanting to ensure that they are seen and should be so proud of themselves! What started off as a small gesture spiraled into something much bigger, to the point where I started offering free sessions to graduates I ran into after finishing my previous shoot. It brings me so much joy and love being able to give back to the community and truly get to know them, their story, and see the smile on their faces. I hope to continue this little tradition of mine for as long as possible because I can relate to them.

What's the catch? Is it open for everyone or must I meet certain requirements?

There's no catch at all, and it's open for everyone… kinda. As much as I would love the opportunity to work with everyone, realistically, I would not be able to due to limited availability and wanting to ensure the best possible sessions & photos are produced. To me, this is more than snapping photos away, but a chance for me to get to know you, your story, and provide you with a warm, welcoming (& hopefully the best) experience possible!

Because of this, I am now going to mention a few things that I would like to preface. If you are in a position where you can comfortably afford a professional graduation photoshoot session, I kindly ask that you consider booking another amazing photographer, and I would happily provide recommendations. I would love to leave these sessions readily available for those who may not be in the same situation and could truly benefit from a session like this. As someone who graduated as a first-generation, low-income student, I hope to provide more opportunities/resources for them. Additionally, the only requirement I have is that

  • You must be a graduating student from the Class of 2026 at a 4-year university or college

  • The 4-year university or college must be located in San Diego, CA (may make exceptions for Irvine, CA)

With these sessions being provided at no cost to you, I ask in exchange that I have permission to use these images for my portfolio, website, social media, and any other marketing or promotion materials, as I retain full rights to the photographs created.

What can I expect from a session? How many photos do you deliver?

Each graduation session is one hour long and specifically designed for either an individual graduate or a small group of two to three people (e.g., friend group, housemates, etc.). All sessions must take place on campus as it allows us to cover around 3-5 different locations, depending on campus activity & timing, while allowing me to be readily available for my next session that is typically scheduled back-to-back.

Prior to booking, I will send you a short form asking you about your preferred locations and availability. Once the details are confirmed, a contract is sent, and your session is officially secured upon signing. After a session, you can expect a turnaround time of 1-2 weeks with the delivery of 25-50 edited photos.
